Yalameh rugs are produced by nomadic tribesmen who occupy the Fars province of southern Persia.
The most common design, Tehir is featured by a central hooked-diamond pole medallion within a hexagonal surround, set against a background decorated with floral, animal, star and human motifs, geometrical designs, often further divided into rows of the medallion with luminous colours, produced by nomadic tribes in the Fars province of southern Iran. Numerous small motifs of a symbolic nature are inserted in the field. The wool used is extremely glossy, and the carpet has a very attractive appearance.
Yalameh greatly influences the Qashqai design. Qashqai tribal influences are similar to motifs frequently seen in Luri work. |
