Tafrish is the name of a village near Hamadan in the region of west central Persia which takes its name from the city .Rugs produced there are of good quality in a very distinctive design based around a huge circular central medallion.
The colour scheme is almost always dark blue and red with cream and yellow ochre as secondary tones. Tafrish rugs are moderately priced and qutie collectable. Tafrish designs are now copied in the design and manufacture of Chinese and Indian rugs. |
