Kerman, situated in S.E. Iran is renowned currently for its production of some of the most refined and elegant rugs.
Kerman rugs for the most part fall broadly into two distinctive categories.
The first following the traditional patterns such as floral inspired medallion designs, garden, tree of life and Boteh designs. The second category following non-traditional patterns, known as the American style, on account of the designs and colour schemes being specifically created to suit the tastes of the American and Western markets. They usually use Aubusson or Medallion designs and also corner arrangements set against an open field. |
