Noted for its Turkoman rugs before it was incorporated into China. Some traditionally designed items are still produced in the region, but most follow the more general range of modern Chinese compositions with Turkoman influence. Traditional east Turkestan schemes are produced in this area and marketed as Samarkands. Sinkiang mainly being knotted by Moslems in in China. |
